Animated Short Film, Personal Project

Every day, I created and shared one animated illustration. This short film brings all of these little pieces together into one slow, cosy journey.

The project was a way for me to explore different colour palettes and atmospheres while experimenting with 2D animation. Every background and illustration was painted by hand in watercolour, then scanned and animated digitally in Photoshop. I also animated the characters myself, keeping the movements simple and subtle.

I wanted to capture that particular feeling of coming home on a rainy day — the warmth of the room, the sound of the rain outside, a hot kettle, and a cat waiting for you. I worked a lot on the different moods and colour ambiences to make each scene feel like a small moment of comfort.

Sound also became an important part of the project. I created the sound design myself, adding details such as the rain and the gentle sounds of a boiling kettle to make the scenes feel more immersive.

I originally shared one shot every day on Instagram. The final film is a combination of all these individual moments, which is why the rhythm is intentionally slow and quiet.

It was a very challenging project for me, but I really loved creating each of these little pieces and discovering where they could take me.
